Water is more than vital to our bodies. The average adult body is 65% water. Without food, you can survive for 3 weeks , but without water, you won’t make it to 5 days, according to studies. The first thing I learned when I started on the path of getting healthier and losing weight was to drink 2 liters of water per day.
That sounds simple, right?
And I have to admit that this single detail completely changed my life in a huge way. After oxygen, the water is the most important element for our survival. But you see, water is used even to transport oxygen to our body’s cells.
There is a problem with our modern society!
We are more dehydrated than we know it. All these sodas, cocktails, and Caffè-lattes only make us more dehydrated. Especially alcohol and caffeine have diuretic effects on our body, that is causing dehydration or making it worse. A diuretic is a substance that makes the body produce an increased amount of urine, therefore losing water from our body. Not to mention sugary drinks, that are too much acid or with too much sugar.
It is chronic water shortage in the body that causes most diseases of the human body.
Proper hydration is needed for all major functions in our body
Water lubricates our joints, help our cells repair and reproduce, regulates the body temperature through breath and sweat, flush waste, transports oxygen to our cells, it’s used for digestion and many other important functions. So you can understand why it’s so vital to always keep our bodies fully hydrated. It helps us lose weight, be healthy and energized.
It’s quite a simple habit, and luckily for most of us easy to do. There are 1 billion people on Earth, as we speak, that don’t have access to clean drinkable water. They spent the most of their lives transporting water on large distances, that is not even clean or safe to drink. Not to mentions a number of deaths this causes.
It is even more obvious how essential is water for our life
So what it’s a simple habit for most of us who have access to clean water anytime we want, it turns out to change our health and therefore our life completely.
Once you will start to hydrate yourself properly, and reduce the dehydrating liquids that have alcohol or caffeine, you will soon start to feel revitalized. You will have more energy, a better mood and be overall more joyful. Your body will get slimmer and healthier. Your joints will remain elastic and your skin will remain young. I don’t think there is a single reason to not start drinking enough water now.
Here’re some “tricks”:
- When you wake up in the morning, the first thing you do is to drink a big glass of water. I always get to bed with my glass of water full waiting for me to drink it when I wake up. The reason to do this is because you are dehydrated when you wake up, and to help your body start the metabolism and flush out the toxins that you got during the night.
- If you want to lose weight, drink a glass of water before you eat. First of all, it will make that hunger be less aggressive. And furthermore, sometimes our stomach confuses hunger with thirst. So when you get thirsty, sometimes our stomach make it look like we are hungry. This way we end up eating more than we should.
- Drink a glass of water with lemon in it daily. This will help you lose weight, and it will help your body keep the alkalinity.
