I Workout Because I Love My Body, Not Because I Hate the Way I Look

Attitude is a little thing that makes a big difference. This will be reflected in the way you workout and eventually on the way you look.

I think, from my personal experience, that people tend to go to the gym for the wrong reasons. They’ve looked in the mirror and pictures and they don’t like what they see. And they go to workout so they can change their looks. Sounds good and for the right reasons, but I found out it leads to a wrong turn and attitude as I will try to highlight below. We will discuss why is better to workout because you love your body.

What it feels like to hate your body

It’s obvious that hate is a negative feeling and has a bad effect on ourselves. But I will explain exactly what kind of effect it produces, so you would understand the reasons behind telling you it’s the wrong approach.

First of all, the first emotion it comes when you dislike the way you look its frustration. Frustration because others look better, because all we see advertised are perfect bodies, and we ask ourselves “why I can’t look like that”? It’s a carousel of bad emotion. This gives out stress, insecurity and eventually laziness. You can’t go with this kind of emotions at the gym. You have the RIGHT approach for it but you use the WRONG reasons.

You can’t make life changing decisions based on what others think or say about you. That’s why you hate the way you look , right? Because other people judge you, because others don’t like you as much or you think they don’t like you as much like the fit friend in the group, because you think you can’t find a date and so on. And you resent yourself for that. It’s definitely the wrong approach. The decisions you make should make you happy! It’s hard and almost impossible to please everybody; also, take notes: nobody likes a people pleaser. People admire originality, honesty, character, integrity, inner power; that’s what we all like and are attracted to.

So it doesn’t matter what others think of you, it matters what you think of you. How you feel about yourself. You should make it so that you feel good in your own skin. That gets us to the next point.

How it feels like to love your body

Isn’t everything just sweeter when love comes along? I think so. Here’s the deal: love your body and the way you look. Work out because you love your body. Cherish it and treat it with respect, because our bodies are God’s temple.

You might not totally agree with how you look now because most probably you’ve been neglecting your body, eating sporadically and unhealthy. But that can be changed! What’s important is why you change it.I workout because I love my body, not because I hate the way I look

You change because you want to be healthy, to have a happy and loving life, to feel confident, to be able to embrace all the joys in life without being sick or weak. Add to this that you will even look better and it gives a lot of compelling reasons, don’t you think? Start to care about yourself, to love yourself, to cherish yourself. And trust me, next time when you are going to reach for those sugary treats you are going to think twice.

You don’t eat healthy and workout because other people don’t like how you look like ok? You do it for your own good. You do it for your own joy, happiness, strength and confidence. You do it for your future.

We do a lot of things for those around us and that is the truth. We give, share, we help others as much as we can. We try to cherish the ones we love, give them gifts, protect them if that is the case. But what do we give to ourselves? Most of the times we forget about ourselves and that is hurtful. It hurts our security, health, happiness, it hurts our future! And because we hurt ourselves, indirectly we are hurting the ones we love too. What if we get sick, what if we feel miserable? We are not the only ones who will suffer, those who love us will suffer with us.

Do you want more reasons?

Ok , let’s talk about the fact that being healthier means you could enjoy more things, have more energy, do more, achieve more and overall be more. It’s an avalanche of abundance that starts with a simple thing like taking care of your body.

Take care of your body from inside out!

There is a big tendency to take care of our body but it’s from outside in. You see all these moisturizers, makeups, shower gels, and cosmetic surgeries that focus on the outside look, sometimes even compromising the inside.

The beauty comes within and there is no shortcut to it. You can sugarcoat a cardboard but that won’t make it a delicious pie. Yes, you should take care of your outside beauty too, but the inside one is the priority. The way you “look” inside simply means how healthy you are.

We are all human beings, and we all have insecurities, but it’s about being healthy and happy with yourself. I’m not perfect, and I will indulge in pizza and sweets on occasion. The goal is to make the majority of your decisions good for your body. So listen to your body, and treat it like your temple.
